Aug. 7th, 2002 04:26 pmHmm, today has been a day of Yesterday, I did bugger all, which was annoying. However I had a sudden burst of enthusiasm at about half 7. Unfortunately I then decided I needed some food and watched TV for another two hours. Finally I got myself together and did some tidying up. I was feeling very motivated then, but also quite tired so went to bed.
To my surprise, the motivated feeling managed to last til the morning. This was helped by the fact I was woken up by a phone call from a bloke at Foster Wheeler. I had applied for a process engineer job but they didnm't need any of the atm so he had offered to put me forward for a process assistant job. I'm a bit unsure - it means I can't do the graduate training scheme and I think it's a rung down from engineer which I'm qualified to do.
Any way, I got an email yesterday saying could I arrange a time for a telephone interview. As I was in full-scale avoid work mode, I panicked and ignored it. Later I decided to email back tomorrow (ie today, are you following this?). However, nice bloke phoned me up and arranged it for Monday. And this is the good bit. He told me there are two possible areas - standard Chem Eng bobbins or software stuff. This is vvvvv good as I would like to do software/programming stuff, using engineering. It's the bit I enjoyed on my placement. And if it's crap, it's only for nine months!
this put me in such a good mood, I acted entirely out of character and did not return to bed. Instead, I gt very organised.
I :
did my exercises
booked my theory test
went to the doctor's to sort out my Anthony nolan form (I collected for them and they do a v good job. I've been planning to put myself on the bone marrow register for ages and decided to stop being crap and send the form off.)
arranged a smear test (not pleasant but I've been putting it off for too long)
went to bank to ask about increased overdraft. I was told I need a copy of my degree certificate, which has not arrived yet. Big problem, as I am skint.
phoned uni and arranged for them to send my certificate out tomorrow.
phoned my parents and arranged for them to take the certificate to my branch when it arrives.
went to Office Angels to try and find someone to talk to me about temping jobs.
went to other temp agency to give them the bit of my CV I managed to miss before (I know, I'm crap!)
got C++ book. I claimed I was learning C++ on my CV. I had got as far as "hmm, I want to do this" so I want to get a bit further between now and Monday.
found thingie to run C++ on (the technical terms are a bit beyond me ;)) thanks to the lovely-but-still-evil Marble.
printed out new copies of CV to send out.
I am feeling very accomplished today - it's scary!
