Bisexual History Thingie ....
Feb. 16th, 2008 10:22 pm... went really really well :oD!
Alex and Laws did a great talk, starting off with David and Jonathon, running through the Ancient Greeks and Romans, through medieval Europe right up to today. To fit so much into two hours, each section was fairly brief but one of the handouts was a list of the people discussed so I plan to so some investigating of my own.
It was really good because I'd been a little disappointed by last years LGBT History Month Events which didn't feature a lot of history, as far as I could tell, let alone bisexual history. And fascinating to see how different cultures viewed queer stuff in different eras - often breaking gender roles was considered a much more serious than same-sex attraction.
And people came, lots of them! We counted about 40 people which is much better than I expected because I was fairly crap about publicity. After the event, we went to Taurus and chatted to lots of lovely people, including Lucy, Mat and Joanie who didn't make it to the event.
It was fab and I am really happy and really grateful to Jen who held my hand and did lots of stuff while I faffed and fretted.
"It all went very well"
