Saturday in the sunshine
Mar. 20th, 2005 10:14 amWe spent Saturday sitting outside Sinclair's Oyster Bar in Manchester. In theory, we were there to sit in the sun and watch the Six Nations Rugby on the big screen but we couldn't see the screen from where we were. However it was warm and the beer was good and Tasha came to visit with her 7 month old baby, Keira. Keira was absolutely gorgeous and being a complete star - lots of adoring fans, particularly
fluffyarmadillo. Keira's parents are both big motor-sports fans (Tash used to do rally driving) so Keira has a incredibly cute mini-sized Subaru Impreza jumpsuit (Just like this one). Clare (the Evil Flatmate's gf) was also very in love with Keira, much to TEF's consternation. There were lots of predictions that Daz and I would have children soon, given how much Daz liked Keira. Which is silly - Daz has loved babies all the time I've known him, there just weren't any around.
The sky was blue, the weather was warm, the baby was cute and Wales won the Grand Slam. I'm not Welsh but it was heartening to see the Welsh team who are generally in the bottom half of the Six Nations make such a dramatic turn-around. It was entertaining in a snarky way that the current World Champions nearly won the wooden spoon but they revived in the last two games to beat Italy and Scotland. Scotland got beat by everyone but Italy *sigh*.
I don't know why I like Rugby more than Football. I don't really understand the rules or the scoring. I guess it just seems a kind of stupid bravery to charge headfirst at each other the way rugby players do, whereas footballers seem a bit more prima-donnaish with their diving and bad behaviour.
This was the first warm weekend we've had this year and it was great to get together with people, especially Tash who I haven't seen much of since uni.
