Last year's answers here

1. What did you do in 2015 that you'd never done before?

Lived in London for 2 months, acted as team leader at work, volunteered to work away from home, various decorating adventures (chose colours and painted a room, put up a thing by drilling into the wall), came out to my parents as poly, successfully introduced my gf to my parents.
Difficult to think of major things but successful small steps towards bigger goals.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?:
My plan for last year was to prepare for having a family.
Getting fitter – some progress but not as much as I’d hoped
Saving money so I can take 12 mos off – I saved £6000 towards this which is fab
Sorting out the house – some progress but not as much as I’d hoped
Investing in my relationships – yes, definitely
Buying a new car – complete failure ;) but OldCar is still running well atm
Deal with minor health issues – mostly sorted
Get better at time&life management – hard to say with this but I think I did better.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?:
No one close, AFAICR

4. Did anyone close to you die?:
Tesla Gwynne was a lovely person I met through bi events. I knew Ash less well but I saw how their death affected my friends.

5. What countries did you visit?:
None, except my own.

6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?:
Better mental health and a job for Jacq
Clarity about D’s surgery and definite plans
Coping skills to deal with work stress/anxiety

7. What date from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?:
26/10/15 – The day of D’s surgery (for investigation) after a month of being messed around.
22/12/15 – The day D got out of hospital again after 8 weeks of being under observation.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?:
Supporting Daz through his time in hospital.

9. What was your biggest failure?:
Procrastination, avoidance, dithering. Same as last year :o(

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?:
Not personally, although my mental health suffered while waiting for D’s surgery.

11. What was the best thing you bought?:
Holiday with Jacq to Scotland.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?:
My partners Jen and Jacq who are both awesome activists and beautiful, brave, bold people. Still besotted with both of them after 9 and 8 years respectively.
Holly, Dave and Jennie who both put in an awful lot of work that is generally unappreciated.
The BiCon organisers for organising a great BiCon.
Same last year :)

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?:
The police and justice system in the US which are combining to execute people of colour for at most, minor infractions and then close ranks to ensure that there is no justice or investigation. The Tories who appear to be gleefully taking an axe to everything that is good about the UK. Labour’s abject failure to act as an opposition for the 6th year in a row.

14. Where did most of your money go?:
Most expensive single things were the holiday with Jacq and shiny new laptop. Biggest bill was mortgage payment, with savings towards Big Life Goal coming a close second.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?:
Shiny new laptop. Holiday to Oban

16. What song will always remind you of 2015?:
“Moving On” by James which is both sad and hopeful.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you
i. happier or sadder? Happier and calmer
ii. thinner or fatter? About the same and slightly fitter
iii. richer or poorer? Richer. Debts paid down, house now warm and watertight in all directions and saving for Big Life Goal underway. I’ve got about 6 months before this pattern will reverse though.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?:
Getting shit done instead of procrastinating, dithering and arsing about.
Same as last year :(

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?:
Waiting around in London for D to have a seizure while being monitored.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?:
With D mostly, but also dropping in on D’s family.

21. Did you fall in love in 2015?:
No but my existing relationships were strengthened, I think.

22. How many one night stands?:

23. What was your favourite TV programme?:
I really enjoyed Doctor Who this year, after a few years of so-so episodes.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?:
No-one new but whenever I see interactions with the people I do hate, I am reminded that I made the right choice to avoid contact.

25. What was the best book you read?:
Digger by Ursula Vernon.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?:
I mostly listened to the Radio this year and I don’t always pick up the names. Must try harder.

27. What did you want and get?:
D had seizures while in hospital. Better physical and mental health for my partners and myself. Better self-knowledge and resetting of some boundaries.

28. What did you want and not get?
A government that is not actively trying to make Britain and the world a worse place. Definite surgery plans for D (for treatment). Timely and helpful communication from the NHS.

29. What was your favourite film this year?:
Inside Out was a lovely film and made me cry repeatedly.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?:
I was 35. I was hugely stressed over potentially moving to Birmingham to work (which was cancelled thankfully) so didn’t really celebrate it.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?:
Procrastinating less. Better health for all my partners and people.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?:
Slowly developing my style and caring less what other people think

33. What kept you sane?:
My friends and partners, esp D. Counselling and the small ways my counsellor is influencing me to be kinder to myself. Talking to people on Twitter in the middle of the night.
Same answer as last year :)

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?:
Victoria Coren-Mitchell and Alex Kingston

35. What political issue stirred you the most?:
In different ways - racism, transphobia, disablism and the casual dehumanisation that underlies mainstream society’s tolerance of such things.

36. Who did you miss?:
A lot of my Manchester friends during my stay in London.

37. Who was the best new person you met?:
My colleague, L who is interesting and entertaining.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015:
You can set boundaries and the sky won’t fall in.

39. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?:
Probably Jacq.

Can’t think of any, sorry.

My trip to Oban with Jacq.

At Jen’s, really quite drunk.

44. Who were you with?:
Assorted Levenshulme bisexualists, partners and allies.

45. Where will you be when 2015 ends?:
At my house, playing board games.

46. Who will you be with when 2015 ends?:
Jen, Emma, Katie and Daz, playing games and talking bollocks.

47. What was your favourite month of 2015?
They were all a bit mixed, with good bits and bad bits.

48. Did you drink a lot of alcohol in 2015?:
No. Because D and Jacq don’t drink and I don’t want to be drunk around them, I don’t drink much alcohol

49. Did you do a lot of drugs in 2015?:
None at all.

50. What are your plans for 2015?
My goals are pretty much the same as last year but the plan to get pregnant has been pushed back to Summer ’16. Specifically,
getting fit and strong
final saving up for new car, finishing the house and taking time off
sorting out the house, especially the spare bedroom
investing in my relationships in preparation for a future where I will have significantly less time/spoons/energy/resources
buying a car with 5 doors
learning to be less stressed by work
